the boy sat cowering in the corner consumed by his own self-pity. he began to feel small and insignificant as if the walls around him began to cave in.

I sat on the summit snow surrounding me I gazed longingly at the never-ending mountains just beyond my reach. my thoughts came back to my own body, the frosty chill slowly crept from my fingers up my arms to my core, I shuddered as my lips turned blue and the sun turned crimson and dipped beyond the purple horizon.
