Look at the series of photos below and take ‘first impression’ notes on:
- What profession do you think the character is in and why?
- Do they appear to be trustworthy, or not, and why?
- Comment on their clothing (and hair/makeup) and the conclusions you make from this
- Comment upon what you believe their personality is like
Characters 1 and 2 – I think characters 1 and 2 look like they work in some corporate profession I think this because of how they present themselves like their clothing and hair. They both look to be fairly trustworthy, successful, law abiding citizens.
Characters 3 and 4 – These men are not dressed up in suits and ties but rather casual attire from this I can presume that characters 3 and 4 do not work in corporate jobs but more casual jobs closer to the community e.g working at the supermarket.
Character 5 – character 5 looks like an ordinary person you’d see walking around, someone you wouldn’t pay much attention to. She probably works the most ordinary job imaginable. She looks like a trustworthy, hardworking individual. The kind that america was built on.
Character 6 – My first impression about character is that he looks trustworthy already just from his face. In this photo he looks like he trying to comfort whoever’s hair that is on the left hand side of the frame. His clothing suggest that he does not work in a business orientated profession. If I had to guess I would say he is an undercover policeman or a detective of some kind. He just has that look that says he wants to do some good.
Character 7 – Very similarly to character 6 this man looks very focused or determined for something. Could be information. I think he might also be an undercover policeman or a detective of some kind. I must say though I’m more edging towards detective its the way he looks its a very stern and tough look that you don’t really see in policemen. I still trust him from the authenticity of his facial expressions.
Character 8 – He looks like something is on his mind. A genuine emotion that all of us feel from time to time. I can’t exactly pinpoint what profession this man is in but judging from his clothing It has to be good as he looks to be an educated individual. He has gained my trust form this.
Character 9 – Character 9 looks to be very concerned about something she is expressing to another character in this photo. I do not know from what origin this concerned facial expression came from. For now I’m going to have to say I am neutral in terms of the trust factor.
Character 10 – Straight off the bat I don’t trust him. He looks like he is up to no good. He dresses like he is an educated individual, which means he isn’t dumb. Something about his smug grin on his face definitely screams guilty at you.
Character 11 – Character 11 looks to be an innocent young man. He dresses well he looks like an authentic person. He does however look to be distracted, he looks like he has witnessed something and wants to tell someone about it. He looks like he does something honest for a living not sure exactly what though.
